Our Story

What would make a young millennial aspire to work as a blacksmith?

Colton Workman

My interest in ironworking started at a very young age after finding an old cast iron anvil tucked away in the shed. Throughout middle school, I was always exploring new ways that I could work with metal from chiseling cold steel, to thwacking on steel put in a campfire, and finally to forging steel heated in a forge made from a speedster wagon. As I transitioned into high school, I expanded my knowledge of metalworking through YouTube university, mentors, and the greatest teacher of all: trial and error. Throughout that adventure, I would do my best to give a new life to what most would call trash sparking me to learn welding so that I could make scrap iron sculptures. In 2018 as a junior in highschool, I became a juried member of the league of NH Craftsmen. After highschool, I attended the University of New Hampshire graduating as a mechanical engineer in 2024. While I pursue a career in aerospace, I continue to practice the art which I have come to love.
